The Montgomery Area Mental Health Services Division (Mhmta) is a not for profit agency that provides quality dual diagnosis treatment in the state of Alabama. Since it was established in 1985, the mission of the Montgomery area MH Authority has been to offer quality mental health and developmental disabilities resources and services to residents of all ages in the counties of Baldwin, Montgomery, and Geauga Counties in the state of Alabama. They work closely with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff, and coordinate and participate in interdisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive range of patient care.

Some of the services that the authority offers include intensive one on one counseling and therapy, group therapy, and specialty clinics for children, adolescents, and families. Inpatient services are available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. There are also a number of respite service programs that will allow out-of-state patients to receive help if they need it. Most of the services are also completely free to patients who qualify for Medicaid and Medicare. As well, MHMTA offers free referral services to patients who are unable or unwilling to take advantage of the services they offer.
