The mission of Family Preservation Services of NC is to offer comprehensive drug rehab and other alcohol and drug abuse prevention, intervention and educational programs for families and their loved ones. It is a non-profit agency under the ministry of health and welfare of Rev. Dr. James M. Hygie. It is a collaboration of the three major treatment facilities in the state, including the jail system, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Family Development Center of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Its primary function is to coordinate and provide quality family preservation services to individuals and families in the state of North Carolina.

The three main programs offered by the organization are in-patient drug rehab facilities; outpatient substance abuse treatment; and family preservation services. It also provides the necessary equipment and professional staff to provide in-patient and outpatient care for the addicted individuals and their families. It offers programs that target the entire family including the spouse, parents, children, siblings, domestic partners and caregivers.
