There was an outbreak of drug-related homicides in Detroit in the summer of 2021. This left the state with a very high rate of overdose deaths, as well as a very high rate of alcohol-related deaths. The epidemic of drug abuse and alcoholism in Detroit, combined with the ongoing problems of the state’s pension crisis, meant that an unprecedented number of retirements were necessary. The rapid rise in alcohol-related deaths prompted the creation of the National Alcoholic Drug Detoxification Program (NAFD) in January, with the goal of coordinating state and local resources for the better care of former addicts and alcohol users.

There were 2,026 deaths related to opioids in Michigan last year. This made the state with the highest rate of overdose deaths in the country, at least, a rate that was higher than the overall national average. Detroit Medical Center Drug Rehab is part of the response to those problems, along with the many treatment and intervention services that serve at-home or inpatient care across the state. Many rehabs offer a wide variety of addiction treatments. Some Detroit drug rehab clinics offer 12-step programs; others provide individualized therapy and support groups, in addition to the necessary inpatient treatment. Some Detroit medical centers also have substance abuse treatment programs, including MAT, which is a program designed to suppress the most serious symptoms of withdrawal from alcohol or other substances of abuse, without compromising the patient’s general well-being.

If you are concerned about the conditions of our mentally ill, there are also a number of facilities that provide outpatient substance abuse treatment services. Many people enter these facilities to learn how to deal with their addictions and overcome the physical challenges and the accompanying stress. Substance abuse is a growing problem in today’s world. At the same time, it continues to increase at an alarming rate. It is becoming increasingly difficult for anyone to find affordable treatment for their addiction, especially when so many people suffer from addiction. When in need, people all over the Detroit area can turn to local substance abuse treatment centers to learn how to deal with their problems.
