Weezer may have released a brand-new song, titled “Hero” but they’ve also delayed the release of their upcoming album “Van Weezer”
The video for the song is a montage of the band’s fan, as they pass a white envelope from person to person, beginning with frontman Rivers Cuomo, who appears to have penned it.
“This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers,” the band wrote in the description of the video, which was directed by Brendan Walter and Jasper Graham.
“Everybody needs a hero but I’m not everybody else/I walk alone,” Cuomo belts out in the guitar-heavy chorus of the song.
The band also revealed that as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they have been forced to push back the release of their forthcoming album, Van Weezer.
“And because we don’t want to give another release date until we’re absolutely sure of it, we’ll just say ‘stay tuned for more info,'” they shared.
