Safetysuit lead singer Doug Brown revealed last week that the band’s as-of-yet untitled new album will be released October 18th. The first single, “Get Around This” is out now. Earlier this year, Alternative Addiction talked with Safetysuit bassist Jeremy Henshaw about the recording process for the upcoming album and avioding the dreaded “sophomore slump.” “They don’t call it a sophomore slump for no reason,” Henshaw told Alternative Addiction in February. “We wanted to be very careful that we didn’t fall into things that we’ve seen other band we’re fans of fall into on their second album where they completely change their whole style and their sound is nothing like what you liked about them in the first place.” Instead, Henshaw says the band took extra time to find the right balance between the sound of the band’s previous release, Life Left To Go and a matured sound that represents where the band is at today. One of the results of that extra time, was pushing back the albums release from 2010 to 2011. “If we would have released an album when we wanted to in the fall of last year, I don’t think the songs that we had and where we were at with the album at that time would have been the best album we could have released,” explained Henshaw. “I think now that we’ve taken the time to really hammer it out in the studio, I think we have gotten to the place where it’s like this is the album we want to release.” Safetysuit recently released a video for their new single “Get Around This” which you can watch below:
