Pearl Jam found themselves at the center of a star-studded jam session onstage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
The band, who was inducted in the Rock Hall’s 2017 class, were joined by Yes’ Trevor Rabin, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Journey’s Neal Schon at the Barclays Center to cover Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Young was originally supposed to induct the band, but had to pull out at the last monute due to an illness.
“The truth of it is, the poor guy can’t stay up that late,” David Letterman said before inducting Pearl Jam earlier in the night. “It’s either that, or he swallowed a harmonica.”
Young has previously joined Pearl Jam for a performance of “Rockin’ in the Free World” at the 1993 MTV’s VMA awards.
