Panic! At The Disco’s 2018 pop-rock bop “High Hopes” has now ruled Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart for a total of 52 weeks. In other words, the track has claimed the No. 1 spot for an entire year!
Taken from the band’s 2018 award-winning album, Pray For The Wicked, the song first reached No. 1 in November of 2018 and continued to sit atop the chart for 34 consecutive weeks, beating the then-champions, Twenty One Pilots, whose widely popular song, “Heathens,” had achieved the feat for 30 consecutive weeks in 2016.
“High Hopes” was later overthrown by another one of the band’s own songs, “Hey Look Ma, I Made It,” which went on to rule the chart for 11 weeks before “High Hopes” reclaimed the spot. I t has spent another 18 weeks on the top spot since and is giving no signs of relenting any time soon.
The band, led by Brendon Urie, has maintained a low-profile since winding up their “Pray For The Wicked” tour last October.
While receiving the Billboard Music Award for Top Rock Album in May of 2019, Urie revealed that he was “working on some ideas” and that it won’t “be too long before another Panic! record,” though the band has yet to come out with any news on that front.
