Moby Rich teams up with singer/songwriter Matt Maeson for an acoustic version of their breakout hit, “Yoko Ono,” – listen to the song below.
Released in 2018, their debut single, “Yoko Ono,” has amassed nearly six million Spotify streams to date and received praise from Noisey, Alternative Press and more. The track was recently featured in a pivotal scene of Netflix’s critically acclaimed original series, Atypical, drawing an emotional reaction from fans.
Of the new stripped back version of the song, Moby Rich says, “We were so fortunate to have ‘Yoko Ono’ be in Atypical and have the show give our song a new breath of life. When that happened, we really felt like it was the perfect time to strip the song back and give our fans a more intimate version. To make it even better, our friend and very talented artist Matt Maeson has always been a fan of the song, so we asked him to be a part of it, and he added a killer new layer to the song. It came together really quickly, and we’re so excited for everybody to hear it.”
“Yoko Ono” (Acoustic) arrives on the heels of Moby Rich’s latest single, “Loser,” which is featured in the latest installment of filmmaker Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The Scottie Cameron-directed video also includes a special cameo from the iconic Jay and Silent Bob, which Funny Or Die praises, saying, “‘Loser’ is the kind of clappy, hooky tune at which we challenge your face and earholes not to smile or at the very least get your feet tip tapping.” Next month, Moby Rich will perform a headline show at San Diego’s Voodoo Room on March 5th, followed by a performance at Phoeni’s M3F Fest on March 6th.
