Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington recently discussed the tribulations of working with major record labels. In an interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Bennington tells how Warner Bros. records wanted Mike Shinoda out of the band. Bennington claims that during the recording of their debut album, Hybrid Theory, Warner Bros. wanted him to give Shinoda the axe. He did not give specifics as to why Warner Bros. wanted Shinoda out of the band. Bennington told Metal Hammer magazine, “I mean the label tried to get rid of Mike, which is probably the funniest thing in the world. Looking back I was just thinking ‘Wow, this is insane, this is a wild ride.” Shinoda cofounded Linkin Park in 1996. He plays rhythm guitar and keyboards and is a contributing songwriter.
