According to Hinder lead singer Austin Winkler, the band’s upcoming new album All American Nightmare will have a heavier and darker sound than their previous two albums. “I kinda went at it with the approach that I am a little hungrier, and took a more personal approach,” Winkler told Alternative Addiction in a recent interview. “We went a little darker and a little heavier with this record, it’s a little more real.”The album marks the first time the band has not worked with producer Brian Howes, as the band instead opted to work with Canadian producer Kevin Churko. The band also chose to record the album in their home state, Oklahoma. Overall, Winkler says the band has worked harder on this album than any they’ve recorded in the past.“For this record we wrote 75 songs, and probably demoed 50, before we narrowed it down to 10 [tracks for the album.] We’ve never done that before,” explained Winkler. “We definitely worked harder on this record than any album we’ve done before.”Overall, Winkler says that the band’s hard work has paid off as the album is a strong representation of where the band is at today.“These songs and the way we wrote them have never been more us as individuals and as a band as a whole.”All American Nightmare is due out in stores December 7th.
