Hawthorne Heights have released a special collection of b-sides and rarities titled Lost Frequencies via Pure Noise Records.
Featured on the album is a brand new single “When Darkness Turns To Light”, a personal and moving song that was written in response to the many mass shootings that have taken place in the United States recently, including August’s tragic shooting in the band’s hometown of Dayton, Ohio.
On the new song, frontman JT Woodruff shares “This song is a response to several mass shootings that were a major part of our lives. One of them took place in our town, and it really drives fear deep into you. I’m not a political person, and I don’t believe in screaming at people. Basically what we are trying to say is that we have a responsibility to teach our youth, and help them when they need it. We can abandon them, and pretend like we don’t all have issues.” In addition to the new song, Hawthorne Heights are releasing a limited edition t-shirt, donating profits to D.A.R.E. “We wanted to partner with DARE on this, and raise some funds for them, because they are trying to help where the kids need it most,” continues Woodruff about this special partnership. “Bullying is such a real issue, and we have to get ahead of it. People are shaped from a very early age, whether it’s at school or at home, we need to be kind to one another. This song is trying to tell them that it’s ok to be different, and that our mistakes don’t define us.” Hawthorne Heights are currently on the road supporting New Found Glory on the From The Screen To Your Stereo To Your Town Tour. The band will be heading over to the UK for a few headlining tour dates in February 2020 before joining Silverstein on their 20 Year Anniversary Tour dates in Germany.
