Brandon Flowers, frontman for the Killers, is the new face of a Mormon ad campaign. The spot, which is now circulating the web, alternately features footage of the rocker rehearsing and expounding on his faith. He says that, as a songwriter, he has to balance rock and roll subject matter with his beliefs. “There are a lot of connotations that come along with pop music and rock music, and it’s usually sex-driven or money-driven,” he said. “I realised early on that wasn’t the road for me, maybe because of the foundations that were laid early on, or my mum and dad taking me to church.” He added that, as he has grown older, his musical message has become more positive. “I’ve definitely, even as I’ve gotten older, gotten more cautious about lyrics,” he said. “I feel like I want to be a positive force in the world and I want to uplift people.” Copyright(c) 2011 RTTNews.com.
