The Indie Song of the Day comes from trio I, the Mountain. It’s a prime song to play as we head into summer.
I, The Mountain has released two EPs to date, Land & Sea and Two Birds. They had some instant buzz but then the band went on hiatus for a few years. Now, the band is reformed and evolved into something that sounds really special. Listen to their new single, “The Boat” – it’s the perfect 2019 summer anthem.
The song was inspired by Alistair MacLeod’s classic short story by the same name. I, the Mountain worked on the song with Simon Ward of The Strumbellas to create what they call an anthem of ‘hope, persistence, and empowerment.’
About the song, the band says,
“The moment we tell ourselves we’ve ‘made it’ is the moment we stop trying. “The Boat” is a call to action. To be “Halfway There” means to always be searching, growing, and reaching for something new.”
