In contrast to the hiatus 3 Doors Down took prior to their 2008 self-titled album, lead singer Brad Arnold says the band is eager to get back in the studio and begin work on their next album. “We want to keep this one going because we took that time last time,” Arnold told Alternative Addiction in a recent interview. “The first three records we toured so hard, and so much, for like 6 years straight, we probably played 250 shows a year. After that we took our seventh year off, because we needed that break, but we can’t afford to take another year off, I want to get back in there so we have some new songs to sing.” Even Arnold’s plans to get married in September haven’t delayed his plans to get the band back in the studio this fall. “I’m getting married September 12th, that will be about the only gap that we get,” explained Arnold. “After that I expect to get back into the studio and full on get on it.” The band has been on tour in support of their latest release for almost two years, an album cycle that Arnold says has gone by too quick. “It’s gone by really quick, especially because we love to tour. I always say, a lot of bands go on tour so they can keep making records, we make records to we can keep going out on tour.” 3 Doors Down is slated to headline VH1’s Best Cruise Ever, planned for the spring of next year. The five day cruise also includes performances from over twelve bands including Lifehouse, Shinedown, Carolina Liar, Finger Eleven and Safetysuit. Tickets fro the Cruise go on sale August 3rd.
