“Hotel Walls” is the group’s latest offering following the success of their Telephone Wires EP released last year, featuring their international hit “Forgive Me Friend” which went double platinum. Currently, “Hotel Walls” is #1 on Swedish Radio and is certified Gold in Sweden and Norway.
Smith & Thell says of their new track, “’Hotel Walls’ is a metaphor for life. You check in; you check out. Everything on earth is rented, but while we’re here, we should celebrate life rather than fearing death.”
Smith & Thell have already achieved worldwide success with “Forgive Me Friend,” which soared to #1 at Swedish radio, and in the U.S., landed at Top 25 at Alternative, and is currently Top 10 at AAA radio. The song has surpassed 50 million streams across all platforms and rapidly catapulted to Top 10 on the Spotify chart in Sweden. Additionally, it staked out a spot on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart and on eight individual country viral charts. Smith & Thell are just coming off of a successful mini US tour, making stops in San Francisco, Sacramento, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and New York. While in New York, the band played Forest Hills Stadium alongside The Head and The Heart, Fitz and the Tantrums, Young the Giant and Dashboard Confessional.
Maria Jane Smith and Victor Thell first crossed paths at a local music event in Southern Sweden. Within a short time, they arrived as one of the country’s preeminent producer-songwriter duos, most recently for Ava Max, and since have amassed over one billion streams as well as multiple platinum and gold certifications. Teaming up officially as Smith & Thell, the band is positioned for a major breakthrough stateside.
