Imagine Dragons have dropped “Bad Liar,” the fourth single from their upcoming studio album Origins.
The song’s lyrics, which speak about the struggles that accompany hiding pain from a lover, sounds somewhat similar to the band’s 2012 hit “Demons.”
The track opens with Dan Reynolds singing, “Oh, hush, my dear, it’s been a difficult year/ And terrors don’t prey on innocent victims.” He goes on, “Trust me, darlin’, trust me darlin’.”
The song continues with Reynolds admitting, “But I’m a bad liar, bad liar,” and singing on, “Now you know, now you know/ I’m a bad liar, bad liar/ Now you know, you’re free to go.”
He then pleads, “I can’t breathe, I can’t be/ I can’t be what you want me to be/Believe me, this one time/ Believe me.”
Origins is to be released via Kidinakorner, Polydor and Interscope Records on November 9.
