Weezer has unveiled the official music video for their cover of Toto’s 1982 hit single “Africa,” featuring Weird Al Yankovic as Rivers Cuomo. “The blessings don’t stop,” Weezer wrote in the comments section of the YouTube video, which dropped on Monday, September 24. The video was directed by Brendan Walter and Jade Ehlers. It stars Yankovic, who re-creates Rivers Cuomo from Weezer’s “Sweater Song” video. In May, Weezer dropped a cover of “Africa,” paying off an Internet campaign from a fan who lobbied for months to get the band to cover the song. Following the song’s release, Toto returned the favor by covering Weezer’s “Hash Pipe.” “Africa” was a surprise hit for Weezer, becoming their first Number One song ever on Billboard’s Rock Airplay Chart and their first Hot 100-charting single in over a decade.
