A statue of late Seattle rock legend Chris Cornell will be erected at the city's Museum of Pop Culture on August 29.

A statue of late Seattle rock legend Chris Cornell will be erected at the city’s Museum of Pop Culture on August 29. The announcement was made by Cornell’s wife Vicky on Friday. She commissioned sculptor Nick Marras to create a life size bronze statue of the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, who was also lead vocalist for Audioslave and Soundgarden. Vicky donated the sculpture, showcasing Cornell with his signature boots, dog tag, layers and long locks, to the museum. “Even though Chris’ music touched the lives of millions around the world, there is no better place than Seattle to honor and celebrate both his contribution to music history, as well as Seattle’s unique place in popular music, with an enduring symbol of a beloved artist, father and husband,” Cornell’s widow said in a press release.
