2018 will be the last year that the Vans Warped Tour goes from coast to coast in the U.S. Does that mean that the tour will discontinue altogether? They’re vagueness in calling it their final “cross-country run” leads us to believe that the tour will stick around – or at the very least they’ll turn it in to a festival of some kind. Regardless, not having the Warped Tour run through most major cities in the U.S. is going to mark a crazy change in the landscape of summer tours and we’re sad to see it go. The quote below comes from AltPress.com:
“I have been a very lucky person to have traveled across the country—sometimes around the world—as one of the founders and producers of the Vans Warped Tour,” Lyman said in a statement to AP.
“And with many mixed feelings, I am announcing that the last full cross-country run will take place in 2018… With the support of so many people, I have now spent the last 23 summers bringing that show to a city near you. We have brought that show to over 11 million people around the world and watched that same world change while doing so.” Following the announcement that 2018 would be its final cross-country run, the Vans Warped Tour extended family has released a retrospective video celebrating the history and heart of the iconic tour. Fans can watch the video, which features founder Kevin Lyman, Vans VP of events and promotion Steve Van Doren, Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise), Silverstein, and more.
