Already out on the road supporting their latest studio set, “Dark Horse,” alt-rockers Nickelback have confirmed plans for a second leg of the hot-selling tour this summer. The band, which kicked off its spring trek last week in Nashville, TN, rolls into East Rutherford, NJ, Thursday night (3/6) to continue the current stretch, which concludes April 23 in Columbia, SC. Hinder, Papa Roach and Saving Abel will offer opening support for the band on the upcoming 30-city summer leg of the outing, which kicks off July 10 in Darien Lake, NY, and continues into September. Tickets for the new shows go on sale March 13, with Citi cardholders eligible for a special presale beginning March 10. More information is available at the Citi Private Pass website. “Dark Horse,” Nickelback’s sixth studio album, surfaced in November, debuting at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart; the record has already been certified platinum, with reported sales of 1.5 million copies in the US alone. The band’s previous release, 2005’s “All the Right Reasons,” topped the US album chart, spent 112 consecutive weeks in the Top 30 and has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, according to Nickelback’s bio. The new record marks the first time since 2001’s “Silver Side Up” that the Canadian rockers have worked with an outside producer. They recruited legendary studio wiz Mutt Lange, who has helped score hits for Def Leppard, AC/DC and Foreigner, among others. The album’s second single, “Something in Your Mouth,” debuted at No. 31 on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, eventually peaking at No. 7. The song, along with the album’s first single, “Gotta Be Somebody,” is streaming at Nickelback’s MySpace page.
