Shinedown frontman Brent Smith has revealed that the band is hard at work on the follow-up to its most recent release, The Sound of Madness. Thus far there is no official release date for the album, but while speaking with Artisan News, Smith said the album will take them in a new direction. “We can’t compare any of the other records to this one – just like we can’t compare the first one to the second one or the third one to the first one,” he said. “We pride ourselves on being a band that each record sounds completely different than the last.” “The beautiful thing is the journey and finding out where you are in your life, not only as a person, but where you are as an artist and as a musician and how far you’ve come and how far you’ve grown,” he added. A part of the album process for the band has been some co-writing. Smith partook in a few sessions with song craftsman David Hodges earlier this year. Copyright(c) 2011 RTTNews.com.
