Weezer paid a homage to Blink-182 by performing a cover of “All the Small Things” during their headlining set at Chicago’s Rio Fest over the weekend.
Blink-182 were recently forced to cancel their fall tour dates, including a headlining slot at Riot Fest, due to drummer Travis Barker’s blood clots. Weezer were brought in as replacement for Blink-182.
Weezer had learned “All the Right Things” as a tribute to Blink-182, however, Young the Giant had performed the same song before Weezer at the Chicago fest.
“But we’re gonna do it anyway, because you can never have too much Blink in your life,” lead singer Rivers Cuomo said. “Let’s see what it sounds like Weezer-style.”
“All the Small Things” was the second single from Blink-182’s third album Enema of the State. The single was released in early 2000 and promptly charted worldwide, becoming a number one hit on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Last month, Weezer hit number one on the Billboard Rock Airplay chart for the first time ever with their remake of Toto’s “Africa.” The song is also number one of the Alternative Songs chart.
