Nine Inch Nails bandmembers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are teaming up with Pixar to produce the score to the animation company’s upcoming movie, Soul.
The duo, who previously teamed up on the Oscar-winning score of David Fincher’s The Social Network, have also collaborated on such award-winning films as Gone Girl, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Netflix’ Bird Box.
Also contributing will be Jon Batiste, the bandleader on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” who is set to record original jazz music for the film, which follows a middle-school band teacher named Joe, whose greatest aspiration is to play at New York’s Half Note jazz club.
The voice cast of the film includes Jamie Foxx in the role of Joe, Tina Fey, Questlove, and Phylicia Rashad as Joe’s mom.
Directed by the Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, Pete Docter, who created such Oscar-winning masterpieces as Up and Inside Out, the film is expected to hit screens worldwide on June 19, 2020.
