Train have written a Christmas song for the 2010 holiday season for Coca-Cola’s holiday commercials. Titled “Shake Up Christmas,” the song will debut on commercials during the holiday season, as well as on a re-release of the band’s 2009 hit album, titled Save Me, San Francisco: Golden Gate Edition which is out November 2nd. In writing the track, Train lead singer Pat Monahan took a unique approach. Writing a song only for commerce — meaning “Shake Up Christmas” solely for a Coca-Cola ad — seemed cynical according to Monahan. Approaching a song that way, he said, “you are not going to write inspiring music. [Instead,] I think of what I did with ‘Shake Up Christmas’ as a ‘how can I help'” spread some happiness.
