Purveyors of Swedish melancholy The Royal Concept are releasing new album The Man Without Qualities which the band produced with long-time collaborator Chris Seefried (Lana Del Rey).
Sitting musically somewhere in between Phoenix and Tame Impala, psychedelic synths are paired with bittersweet vocals and driving guitar rhythms. The record evokes the almost pleasant kind of sadness that we all face from time to time – finding joy in the midst of existential crises.
The band formed while studying Jazz at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where as session musicians they worked an toured with the likes of Robyn, Icona Pop and Tove Styrke.
The Royal Concept’s previous output have seen them top theHype Machine chart and receive critical praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard and FILTER Magazine. They’ve also seen syncs on FIFA, Tim Burton films, Grey’s Anatomy, TheSims and Netflix series LOVE. They’ve headlined festivals from Madrid to Tokyo and shared stages with Imagine Dragons & The 1975.
The Man Without Qualities is available everywhere May 24th, 2019.
