Taking Back Sunday announced today that the band will perform a string of headlining dates for Boost Mobile RockCorps (BMRC), a national youth volunteerism movement that harnesses the power of music to motivate young people to get involved in their communities. The upcoming concerts, which are free to anyone volunteering four hours of community service to BMRC projects, expands on a partnership between the band and BMRC that began when the New York-based quintet performed to 5,000 enthusiastic volunteers at last year’s BMRC season wrap concert at Radio City Music Hall. Now in its third year, Boost Mobile RockCorps’ program is simple yet effective: young people donate four hours of volunteer service to a BMRC-related project, and in exchange they earn a ticket to attend a high-profile concert in their city. Since 2005, BMRC has directly inspired more than 19,000 young people to volunteer in their community, working on a wide range of service projects including school and playground renovation, park preservation, food distribution and more. “Communities are like gardens,” notes lead singer Adam Lazzara when asked why they chose to get involved with BMRC. “Without upkeep and care, without maintenance, it is impossible for them to grow, to produce anything of value. By offering an incentive, Boost Mobile RockCorps is teaching this valuable lesson to our nation’s youth – in whose able hands our community’s futures lie. We are honored to have the opportunity to take part — BMRC rules.” BMRC Volunteer Event Dates to earn your ticket to see Taking Back Sunday: June 30th & July 1ST Portland July 14th & 15TH Houston July 21st & 22ND Philadelphia July 28th & 29th Chicago Youth interested in becoming part of the Boost Mobile RockCorps movement can call BMRC at 1-888-ROCK-889, or log onto www.boostmobilerockcorps.com for more information and to register for membership.
