Shinedown frontman, Brent Smith recently sat down for an interview with the Consequence of Sound, in which he spoke about the 15th anniversary of the band’s debut album.
“…there are three different producers on that album, and that album was recorded in five different locations across the U.S,” said Smith about the band’s 2003 debut release, Leave A Whisper. “It was a lot of work. It wasn’t a normal debut album where it’s like, these guys have known each other since they were kids and have been making music together.”
Originally a member of a different band, Smith signed to Atlantic Records in 2000. A year later, however, the group was dropped and Smith was offered “the opportunity of a lifetime to have a development deal,” through which Shinedown was born.
“I’ve been given a gift to work with some of the most extraordinary people in the world over the past 20 years, and they’ve allowed me to be myself the whole time,” continued Smith, speaking about the brotherhood within the band.
Having released their 6th studio album, Attention Attention earlier this year, the band is slated to kick off their U.S headlining tour in February of 2019 with supporting acts Papa Roach and Asking Alexandria.
