The massive conglomerate performed the classic MC5 tune “Kick Out the Jams,” the title track from the band’s seminal debut album.
Eddie Vedder also took the chance to take aim at President Donald Trump as he asked the crowd to light up their phones to show him what a “really big crowd is.”
Kick Out the Jams was released in February 1969, through Elektra Records, and recorded live at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom over two nights, Devil’s Night and Halloween 1968. The LP peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the title track peaking at No. 82 in the Hot 100.
