The NFL has asked Coldplay if they would be willing to pay to play the halftime of the Super Bowl. The Wall Street Journal reports that the league now expects remuneration for the exposure had during the halftime show. The league is asking for the artists named to “contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.” The request has been met with antipathy from artists, notes the WSJ. The NFL likely has calculated that – because a 30-second ad spot during the Super Bowl is worth around $4 million – the halftime exposure, at around 12 minutes in length, is worth upwards of $100 million. Super Bowl XLIX will take place in Arizona on February 1, 2015. Copyright(c) 2014 RTTNews.com. All Rights Reserved
