Filter had to cancel their concert at Speaking Rock Casino in El Paso, Texas on Thursday over a Facebook post and an image of an upside-down flag on the industrial rock act’s video-screen backdrop. Just before the show, the band shared a video of their soundcheck on Facebook, with frontman Richard Patrick saying, “This is sound check! We’re Playing El Paso! Get Here! Later and it will he packed! A lot of Trump bashing! Does anyone know Beto?? Bring Beto!” The venue did not accept Patrick’s post, as the club’s general manager asked the band to cancel the show. “If you want to turn it into a political rally, we’re gonna cancel the show,” Karl Maahs, general manager of El Paso, Texas’ Speaking Rock Entertainment Center told Billboard. “The band was paid in full before they got here, and it was a free show, so we didn’t have to refund any customers any money, but I am the general manager and I wasn’t gonna make our employees feel uncomfortable posting the American flag upside down and putting different graphics over the top of the American flag,” Maahs said. He added, “And we’d rather cancel the show than be in the spotlight with all this anti-American political thing, especially when it came down to the American flag being hung upside down for the show and being desecrated.” Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com.
