Dave Grohl reflected on joining Nirvana and recording the Foo Fighters' debut album in an interview on Apple Music.

Dave Grohl reflected on joining Nirvana and recording the Foo Fighters’ debut album in an interview on Apple Music. The interview was aired on July 4, the 25th anniversary of the self-titled album’s release. “When I joined the band, I didn’t know Krist [Novoselic] and Kurt [Cobain] at all. And when we first met and started playing, it was clear that when we got together to play that it worked really well, and we sounded what most people know now to sound like Nirvana,” he told Matt Wilkinson. “It was almost exactly a year from the time I joined to the time ‘Nevermind’ came out,” he added. “And then once it came out, it was like things happen so quickly. The band got really big.” On the days following the death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Grohl said, “There was a period of everyone just hiding from the world and our whole world was turned upside down.” Grohl, who is the longest-serving drummer for the rock band and the founder of Foo Fighters, said he would like to dedicate Foo Fighters’ debut album to Cobain and Nirvana founding member Krist Novoselic.
