Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith recently sat down for an in-depth interview with Rolling Stone in which he spoke about the band and his upcoming visual art exhibit in Los Angeles. Smith dipped his toes into the art field back in 2015, when the Los Angeles visual-art team, SceneFour approached him; his very first foray into the medium involved playing the drums with lighted sticks, recorded in SIR Studios in L.A. “I thought their ideas were really interesting,” Smith shared. “They then take the images and manipulate them in different ways. They use different colors, textures, and depths. I’ll say to them, ‘I like that. I don’t like this. What if we did this?’ The whole process takes a few months, though I’m not actually there with them and the printers and sheets and everything.” In the interview, he also let slip the fact that former Chili Peppers member John Frusciante has returned to the scene. “I was given strict orders for this interview: ‘DON’T TALK ABOUT THE BAND,'” he said. “John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music.” The new album will be the follow-up to the band’s 11th studio album, The Getaway, released in 2016. Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com. All Rights Reserved
