Capital Cities – the Los Angeles-based band that became a global sensation after the release of its debut album, “In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery”, and first single,”Safe and Sound,” which has sold 11 million adjusted tracks to date – will return to the road this fall.The band’s fall North American headline tour will kick off on November 1 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The run will include an evening at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom (November 3) and wrap up with a hometown show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on November 23 (Thanksgiving Eve). Founded and fronted by Sebu Simonian and Ryan Merchant, Capital Cities will release a brand new song, “Vowels,” on September 30 via Capitol Records. Featured on the band’s forthcoming EP due for release this autumn, “Vowels” will also appear in the FIFA 17 video game and official soundtrack on Spotify. Capital Cities released its debut album, In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery, in June of 2013 via Capitol Records/Lazy Hooks. Since then, Capital Cities has sold 1.6 million adjusted albums and the band’s cumulative streams now exceed 600 million worldwide. Lead single “Safe and Sound” has been certified Platinum in numerous countries, including the U.S., where it is double Platinum. A multi-format hit, it topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and entered the Top 5 at Pop, Hot AC and Triple A radio. The “Safe and Sound” video, which can be seen HERE, has more than 340 million views worldwide. It won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Visual Effects and was nominated for a GRAMMY®. The band, which was also nominated for three Billboard Music Awards, supported In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery with numerous headline tours and performances at such festivals as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Firefly and Sasquatch. Capital Cities opened for Katy Perry on the first leg of her Prismatic World Tour and performed on such national television shows as “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Conan” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
