Back with his first trio since The Marvelous 3 called it quits in 2000, Butch Walker has begun work with a new band called 1969. They are expected to release their debut album called “Maya,” which they recorded in 3 days, later this year. The full names of the members of 1969 are still unannouced, on the bands MySpace page, they simple have the first names listed as: Darren playing drums and vocals, Butch Walker playing Bass and vocals, and Michael: guitar. Perhaps over the next few weeks we will find out who Darren and Michael are. The MySpace page is very vague as to how the band was formed, but it says: “We met at a party at corey haim’s house in the hills, [and] people kept asking us if we were in a band together, because apparently that’s what it looked like. [So] we started rehearsing the next day on Peter Bogdonovich’s studio/boat in Laguna beach. [There,] we wrote and recorded the songs for our upcoming album “Maya” in 3 days.” The band looks to have a website planned at: www.1969.tv although there is nothing there yet. The last question they answer on their MySpace page is: Why the name1969? Apparantly, it’s their myspace password.
