Artemis Records, home of Sugarcult and Powderfinger, has reportedly signed Better Than Ezra, and plans to release a brand new studio album from the band early next year. This marks the first studio release from the band in over 3 years. This comes as big news for Better Than Ezra fans, who have been anxiously awaiting the release of new material that the band has been playing at the live shows over the past year while they were in search of a new label. Originally signed to Elektra in the early 90’s, Better Than Ezra scored radio hits with their singles like “Good”, “In The Blood”, “King of New Orleans”, and “Desperately Wanting”. After lackluster sales on the experimental third release, Elektra released the band. In 2001 the band signed with the Universal imprint Beyond Records, and released their fourth album “Closer”. Arguably the bands finest release, the album never received promotion, because Beyond Records filed for bankruptcy months after the album was released. Better Than Ezra also recently released a live album recorded at the House of Blues in their hometown of New Orleans. The album also includes two studio tracks, one of which is the song “Cold Year” currently featured on the Alternative Addiction Top 20.
