Barns Courtney is up to big things with a new single, a new video and a U.S. TV Debut on Conan coming up on 6/15.
Barns Courtney will make his U.S. television debut on “CONAN” on Wednesday, June 15. He’ll return to North America in September for a series of West Coast dates, which include a performance at Bumbershoot 2016 in Seattle, WA and a June 8 headline show at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA.
“Fire” became a Top 5 hit at Triple A radio in just six weeks. It’s been a standout success at SiriusXM’s Spectrum channel, with over 1000 spins and growing. “Fire” is already in the Top 30 at Alternative radio and climbing, led by tastemaker KNDD Seattle. Hailed as “rousing” by People Magazine, the song was handpicked by Bradley Cooper and Harvey Weinstein for use in the 2015 film Burnt and tapped for a Showtime promotional ad campaign. “Fire” has also been licensed by multiple ESPN, shows, the MLB network and the Esquire network. The single can be purchased now on iTunes and heard on Spotify.
“There’s confidence. And then there’s the swaggering self-assurance displayed by raspy-throated British blues rocker Barns Courtney on his recent single ‘Fire,’ a swampy, Gospel-steeped stomper,” noted Paste Magazine, which hailed him as “The Best of What’s Next” in this feature. “Courtney has that something that you just don’t get to hear enough of anymore,” said Baeble Music, which highlighted the track “Hands” as one of its “Songs We Loved This Week.” “Hands” can be purchased on iTunes and heard on Spotify. The official “Hands” video – lensed by Youth Hymns, the team that directed the “Fire” clip. Capitol Records introduced Barns Courtney at SXSW 2016 and he was featured on the Western leg of Alt Nation’s Advanced Placement tour. He opened for The Who at London’s Wembley Stadium and has also supported Elle King, Blur and The Libertines.
Born in Ipswich, England, Barns Courtney relocated to Seattle at age four when his mother remarried. At around age 14, two pivotal events occurred – an aunt gave him a guitar and he moved back to Ipswich. It was there that he first started performing, bouncing between various bands. He signed a recording contract straight out of high school, but when that deal fell apart, he went through several years of struggle.
