The Indie Song of the Day comes from Shawn Spencer, the former frontman for Seven Handle Circus. During that band’s tenure, they were featured on Conan and they made appearances on national outlets like People, Paste Magazine, and GuitarWorld, they even appeared on the Americana Radio Charts.
The band also opened up shows for bands like Mumford and Sons, Better Than Ezra, and Zach Brown Band. Now, Spencer is venturing into the world of alternative rock with his new project.
“7HC was a beautiful thing that just kind of happened,” says Spencer. “We were a bunch of guys who started jamming and ended up with what was quickly becoming a very successful touring career. But in the end, it was more than some of us had bargained for. They wanted to settle down, I’m just not prepared to settle.”
Spencer hit the studio and started working with the great Billy Hume and the result is his solo music. Spencer has a knack for crafting big choruses with powerful lyrics, the debut album was called Empty Seas and it was a great start in the alternative/solo genre for Spencer. Now, he’s started 2020 with a brand new single. The song’s called “Just the Way You Do” – and it’s today’s Indie Song of the Day.
