After the departure of founding guitarist Craig Montoya and longtime drummer Scott Cuthbert, Art Alexakis has decided to tour with three new members for a fall tour in support of their new greatest hits CD, released earlier this month. The announcement comes with mixed response from long time Everclear fans, many who have a hard time accepting the band in anything other than their original form. “Craig and Greg have left to pursue different directions in music and life,” frontman Art Alexakis wrote in a recent message on the band’s website. “I wish them luck and success in all that they do.” A trio since its inception, the group is now a quintet featuring Alexakis, guitarist Dave French, bassist Sam Houston, keyboardist Josh Crawley and drummer Brett Snyder.
