Toadies have unveiled the new animated video for the track ‘Broke Down Stupid’ off their latest release The Lower Side Of Uptown (out Sept. 8th via Kirtland Records.) Guitarist Clark Vogeler on the song: “The story at the heart of Broke Down Stupid, the song, was born from the imagination (or was it memory?) of our singer, Vaden. As the story goes, our narrator goes out and gets seriously f#%ked up, and subsequently creates quite a mess of things. It’s a twisted story that deserves a twisted video.” He adds: “It sounded to me as if the song was essentially about guilt and penance. I imagined a scenario where our narrator has to face up for his transgressions before a court of law and a jury of his peers. Listening to the song, the narrative pieces fell into place. There’s a woozy guitar riff that breaks up the parts of the song, and these spots lent themselves handily to scenes of our guy, wasted and on a destructive bender.”
The video was a collaborative effort Dallas-based artist Clay Stinnett and animator, Devin Ensz and edited by Vogeler who in addition to handling guitar duties for the Toadies, is an editor having worked on Top Chef, Project Greenlight and even nominated for an Emmy as part of the team on Project Runway.
