Maroon 5 and Counting Crows are teaming for an extensive summer/fall tour, beginning July 25 in Virginia Beach, Va. Sara Bareilles has been tapped as the opener through Aug. 26, while Epic labelmate Augustana will support on the rest of the dates. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster and Live Nation on April 4. Meanwhile, the bands have linked with environmental non-profit Reverb to help green the tour via biodiesel trucks, carbon offsets and carpool groups for concert-goers. Maroon 5 is out in support of 2007’s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,” which topped The Billboard 200. The band will also appear April 9 on the “American Idol” special “Idol Gives Back.” Counting Crows’ new Geffen effort, “Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings,” is released tomorrow (March 25).
