ndie pop group Chvrches have called out Marshmello on social media for working with Chris Brown and Tyga.
“We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown,” the band tweeted. “We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behavior. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”
Chvrches featured on Marshmello’s 2019 single “Here With Me,” which earned the group their first Billboard Hot 100 hit.
Marshmello on Thursday, April 25, dropped the music video for “Light It Up,” his new party anthem featuring Brown and Tyga.
In 2009, Brown plead guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. In 2015, Tyga settled a sexual assault lawsuit against him following a 2011 video shoot. The rapper was also accused of having a sexual relationship with then-girlfriend Kylie Jenner, who was 16 at the time.
