British Melodic Rock act Keane revealed in a recent interview that they were offered a chance to write material for Britney Spears and turned it down according to Keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley. “That stuff is all fine, but I don’t know. It’s very easy to think ‘Right, I’m just going to do everything [that’s offered] now.’ Rice-Oxley is known outside of his work with Keane for contributing tracks for Gwen Stefani and Pussycat Dolls albums recently. “After the Gwen thing, I was offered a lot of things, but both Gwen and Nicole are – I can honestly say – phenomenally talented, and I wouldn’t want to start diluting that level of musical quality, I suppose.” Rice-Oxley also revealed that he wants to focus more on writing more material for Keane rather than other artists. “I found that I was starting to spend a lot of time on that stuff, and again realizing that I never had time to write songs for Keane. So I just drew a line under it, and I’m not really intending to do anything else.” Keane have not released an album since 2006’s “Under the Iron Sea,” which hit stores nearly a year and a half ago. But early this week Keane released a new song entitled “The Night Sky” for Warchildmuisc.com, a website devoted to raise money to protect women and children during war related conflicts.
