The Indie Song of the Day comes from Alabama Indie Rock Act Carver Commodore. The band just released their debut album, Tell Me What You Want on October 25th.
The song we’re featuring is the third track from the album, it’s called “Julie Kid.”
Carver Commodore used to go by the name of The Bear & The Bride. They’re rooted in southern rock but that’s not really their sound. They mix elements of indie pop with alt rock to make their own blend of music. The sound borders on something like The Killers or The Strokes.
Says frontman Payton Pruitt: “The thing about Florence is that it’s this beautiful blend of people burned by life in bigger cities mixed with those who grew up here and see the beauty in it.All the musical history of Muscle Shoals combining with a new generation of creatives that can afford to do what they want to do (whether in fashion, music, art, whatever) because the cost of living is a fraction of what it is in Nashville, NYC, LA, Seattle, etc.”
Carver Commodore was formed by Payton Pruitt and guitarist Phillip Blevins. The band recorded their new album at The Smoakstack in Nashville. The band will be on the road promoting their new album throughout 2020.
