Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams says the band came close to breaking up while recoding their last album, and only after finishing the single 'Ignorance' did they decide to stay together.
Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams says the band came very close to breaking up during the recoding of their latest album, Brand New Eyes. According to the singer, her breakup with guitarist Josh Farro nearly caused the band to split. “We’d get into arguments and he’d be like, ‘Why can’t you write in front of me? It shouldn’t be that big of a deal, you know me . . .'” Williams tells the U.K.’s Guardian of the turbulent recording process. She explains that the tension came to a head when the band began recording the song “Ignorance.” The lyrics were so personal that Williams says she “tried to mumble all the way through” her first performance of the song. “I ran into the bathroom, I was so nervous,” the singer says. The band offered a tough response to the song, but Williams says that led them to work through their problems. “We talked for two hours and reconciled a lot of tough, heavy things. That song saved our band,” she adds. Listen: “Ignorance” by Paramore
