Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan revealed the reason behind the long delay between the band’s last two albums. On August 30, Tool released their long-awaited new album, Fear Inoculum, their first in thirteen years. During an appearance on BBC Radio 1’s “Rock Show With Daniel P Carter,” Keenan said the delay was due to a fear that the album would not be as successful as the band’s previous albums. “You want it to be right and we’ve had some success in the past, and the fear of this thing coming out and not being accepted – the fear that it’s not as good as it can be – that can be detrimentally crippling,” Keenan said. “Probably if I had to ‘psychology 101’ (it), I would have to say ‘Well yeah, that’s why it would take 13 years to write something, because you’re paranoid that it’s not gonna be the best that it can be,'” he added. “Then you second-guess every single step that you make, when it was probably good enough – I shouldn’t say good enough – it was fantastic eight years ago.” Tool’s last studio album was 2006’s 10,000 Days, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Recently, the band also released its four previous studio albums on streaming services for the first time. Tool have also announced plans to embark on a tour of North America this fall along with Killing Joke. The trek will kick off on October 13 at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California, and wrap up on November 25 at Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C. Copyright(c) 2019 RTTNews.com.
