The Indie Song of the Day comes from singer/songwriter Jason Weems. Weems is from Austin, TX and has been playing in the folk circuits of Texas for years. Now, he’s readying the release of his first full studio album. The lead single from the album is called “Star Crossed Lovers” and it’s the song we’re featuring as Indie Song of the Day. Weems has a raspy but sweet voice and it pairs nicely with his background in folk music. “Star Crossed Lovers” is a pop song but you really hear a little bit of everything that Weems is influenced by in the song. There’s a touch of reggae, the lyrical sensibilities of folk music, and Weems’ voice makes anything sound like it has a touch of blues to it.
