GRAMMY-nominated electro-experimental rock band MUTEMATH have released another new track from their highly anticipated forthcoming studio album “Play Dead”, out September 8th. Listen to the song below:
“Stroll On, in particular, was a jam we recorded about 5 years ago when we started writing for our last record Vitals,” frontman Paul Meany states. “We shelved it, probably because I didn’t have a vocal idea for it. But when I did a shelf inventory for this new album, that track grabbed me by the throat and demanded a vocal. I’m not gonna curse this song and say it’s my favorite (because when I do, that usually becomes a least favorite for fans), but just know that I don’t not like this song a lot, and I don’t not love what I find on the shelf sometimes ;)”
Just last month, the band received rave reviews for the album’s first single, “Hit Parade,” with Entertainment Weekly calling it “chilled-out, soul-inflected psychedelic rock; [a] groovy first cut from their upcoming Play Dead.” The collectiondeviates from the sunbeam laced songs that comprised 2015’s Vitals, the electronic spin of 2016’s Changes, and their latest release, a collaboration EP with Twenty One Pilots entitled TØPxMM (The MUTEMATH Sessions). In making this new music, the band took an unhinged and unguarded approach, while also pulling inspiration from previous albums including, 2011’s fan-favorite Odd Soul.
