The Indie Song of the Day comes from Russian-born singer Anastasia Luna. The song we’re featuring is called “Don’t Go Away” and it’s been released as a single but is slated to be on her upcoming release Witches & Demons.
Luna was born in the Russia to a theatre director and an opera singer. It’s easy to tell where she gets her talent and gravitas from. She’s classically trained in a lot of different arts relating to both worlds, but she developed her own interests outside of the classics.
“I started going to music festivals, concerts, different types of shows,” says Luna. “I didn’t just want to be a rock singer, I wanted to merge different styles of music, dance and create something of my own.” And she definitely did that. Luna merges her classical training in the style of a rock vocal and then she adds some elements of dubstep to her music too. It all amounts to be something that’s vastly different than anything else and worth checking out.
