Incubus recorded “Admiration,” “Neither of Us Can See,” and “Make a Move” this spring with producer Brendan O’Brien. “Make a Move” has been chosen as the first single for the soundtrack which will be released July 12.
“Neither of Us Can see” has the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde helping lead singer Brandon Boyd out with vocals on his first ever duet. “When we were conceptualizing the song, it became obvious that we needed two voices to capture the different facets of this song,” Boyd says. “Chrissie came in and added another dimension to the song.”
Prior to the Stealth soundtrack, Incubus had never written songs specifically for a soundtrack. The experience gave the band a new perspective on songwriting. “We’re used to writing a song that brings the thoughts and images in your head to life,” Boyd explains. “Writing for a very specific scene is tricky because you want to come up with thoughtful lyrics that touch on the movie but don’t come off cheesy.” The band’s song “Crowded Elevator” was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Scream 3 but was not originally recorded for it.
Incubus will not be playing any shows in the U.S. this summer, but they have added the following European festival dates to their schedule:
