Alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World have dropped a brand-new video for the song “555” off their most recent album, Surviving, released earlier this month.
Co-directed by frontman Jim Adkins and Michael Gill, the video features an evil, intergalactic overlord who has employed an entire army of grim-looking clones of himself to perform the backing vocals as he belts out the song.
Adkins explained that the video takes inspiration from the Rick Springfield video for “Bop ‘Till You Drop.”
“A reptilian overlord managing his minions gets overthrown by his workforce. He’s kind of trying to keep them in line, but one guy breaks into song and mass rebellion ensues. From the overlord’s perspective, that day was a pretty bad day. I always thought that was funny,” he shared.
Having recently wrapped up their U.K. tour dates, the band is next set to trek across the U.S. beginning on November 2 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
